Justin M.

Founder

Hello, my name is Justin and I am the founder of Weather Watch, alongside all of its branded pages. My interest in weather began with an interest in thunderstorms and clouds. On August 2nd, 2015, I was tracking a few severe thunderstorms across Southwestern Ontario. Upon the storm moving over the region, I went on my first 'mini-chase' around the Teviotdale/Listowel region. The chase was very brief, although, it was my first real-hand experience with a funnel cloud. Beginning from this day forward, my interest in weather continued to grow. Eleven months following this storm, I wanted to share my knowledge of weather with the online world, well providing meaningful information. Beginning in early July of 2016, I created the Ontario Weather Watch page. I posted and still do post all weather alerts issued by Environment Canada by hand. Alongside this, I created my very first forecasts. I had zero experience in meteorology, although, since the beginning of these pages, I have found a career choice I would like to pursue and plan to pursue meteorology in later years. After a few months of severe weather in Ontario, I created another page focusing on tropical cyclones around North America. Beginning in 2017, I created a third page called Canada Tornado Alerts providing Hand-posted tornado alerts, including custom advanced notification posts for all tornadic storms. This is where I gained my interest deeply in tornadoes and tornado research. This prompted me to work on a Canadian Tornado History project which is still in the works from this point. My interest in forecasting and weather safety continued through 2017 and 2018. Beginning in 2019, I started to gain public interest. Weather Watch now provides weather forecasts for F.E. Madill Secondary School in Wingham, Ontario. Alongside this, a page dedicated weather in Huron and Perth Counties in Ontario was also made, since, that is were this all started. Beginning in April of 2019, I also am a forecaster for TransCanada Weather (website: click here). Over the last few years, I have met so many people and gained so much experience in a topic I had little to no experience in. I plan to forever continue working with the weather and meteorology to provide the best and most accurate possible information to the public. At the beginning of 2020, I launched my auto-alert posting system to remove the element of slow, hand posted alerts and replaced it with speedy alerts directly from Environment Canada.
