We are watching the risk for some isolated severe thunderstorms across portions of Northwestern Ontario this afternoon and evening which may bring the risk of some damaging winds near and over 90km/h and some moderate sized hail between 1 and 1.5cm in diameter.
Scattered thunderstorms are likely to develop across much of Far Northern Ontario and Northwestern Ontario. Near the United States-Canada border, a few of the thunderstorms may merge into a line containing damaging winds. Isolated cells may contain a moderate hail threat.
Areas just to the north of the low region such as Shebandowan, Raith and Sioux Narrows could locally see a strong to isolated severe storm although the risk is too low to include in the next level up, which is the green/low/2 area.
Environment Canada has issued a few severe thunderstorm watches for the region including Mine Centre, Fort Frances and Atikokan.
We are watching!
